Gary Patena
Gary Patena works with Thayer | Hidden Creek’s transportation and logistics portfolio companies as a Senior Vice President. He joined the Firm in 2008. Mr. Patena brings twenty-five years of experience in the transportation and logistics sector and a broad network of relationships with potential customers and acquisition targets. His knowledge benefits all of Thayer | Hidden Creek’s logistics portfolio companies.
Previously, Mr. Patena was President of Matson America Transportation Services (MAT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. With a market capitalization in excess of $2 billion, Alexander & Baldwin trades on the NASDAQ under the symbol ALEX. Prior to his appointment as President of MAT, Mr. Patena founded TransAmerica in 1988, and grew the company from a start up to $50 million of revenue in 2003. In December of 2003, Matson Integrated Logistics acquired TransAmerica and renamed the company Matson America Transportation Services. Prior to starting up and establishing TransAmerica, Mr. Patena had a successful career at P.I.E. Truck lines and Consolidated Freightways, where he held numerous management positions at both firms.
Mr. Patena is a well known individual in the transportation and logistics industry. He attended Kent State University and holds a BA in Business Management with a minor in Transportation.
